New Delhi, 23rd June: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met National Security Advisors and senior security officials of BRICS countries, underscoring the growing importance of the grouping in addressing emerging global security challenges.
During the interaction, Modi said that BRICS has a crucial role to play in strengthening cooperation on key security issues in a rapidly evolving global environment. He emphasized the need for greater collaboration among member nations to tackle common challenges, including terrorism, cyber security and emerging technologies.
The Prime Minister said India’s Chairmanship of BRICS would focus on advancing practical cooperation among member countries and enhancing collective efforts on security-related issues. He added that stronger coordination among BRICS nations would contribute to global peace, stability and development.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to the Global South, Modi said New Delhi would continue to promote the interests and priorities of developing nations through the BRICS platform and contribute to building a safer, more secure and inclusive world.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he was pleased to meet the National Security Advisors and senior security officials of BRICS countries and stressed the need for deeper security cooperation to address shared challenges ranging from terrorism and cyber threats to emerging technologies.
