New Delhi, 27th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday urged citizens across the country to take precautions amid rising temperatures and severe heatwave conditions affecting several parts of India.

In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister appealed to people to stay hydrated, carry water while stepping outdoors and help others cope with the harsh weather by offering drinking water.

“Different parts of India are witnessing soaring temperatures and the challenges that come with it. This heat is harsh on all of us and I urge you all to take as many precautions as possible,” the Prime Minister said.

Shri Modi also advised citizens to remain alert to symptoms of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, nausea and extreme fatigue. He said anyone feeling weak or unwell should immediately be moved to a cool and shaded place and provided water and ORS.

He cautioned that children, elderly people and those working outdoors are particularly vulnerable during extreme heat conditions and warned that ignoring symptoms could lead to heatstroke.

The Prime Minister further urged people to regularly check on elderly parents, grandparents and loved ones during the heatwave and remind them to avoid going outdoors during peak afternoon hours.

Emphasising compassion during difficult weather conditions, Shri Modi appealed to citizens to keep bowls of water outside homes, balconies, terraces, shops and offices for birds and animals.

“A small bowl of water kept outside your home, balconies, terraces, shops or offices can become a lifeline for a thirsty bird,” he said.
