PM Modi Salutes Doctors on National Doctors’ Day
PM highlights healthcare reforms, lauds doctors' service and India's expanding medical education ecosystem

New Delhi, 1st July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to doctors across the country on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day, describing their dedication, compassion and tireless service as the backbone of India’s healthcare system.
In a message shared on X, the Prime Minister said doctors have earned the trust and gratitude of millions through their unwavering commitment to serving people, often under the most challenging circumstances.
Highlighting the transformation of India’s healthcare sector over the past decade, Modi said the country has significantly strengthened its medical infrastructure by more than doubling the number of medical colleges while substantially increasing undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats. He said the expansion is creating greater opportunities for aspiring doctors, strengthening the healthcare workforce and ensuring quality healthcare reaches every corner of the country.
The Prime Minister also applauded Indian doctors and healthcare professionals serving in Venezuela under Operation Amistad, saying their selfless service during challenging times reflects India’s humanitarian commitment and the spirit of its medical fraternity.
Modi said doctors will continue to play a crucial role in building a Viksit Bharat by promoting preventive healthcare, advancing medical research, embracing innovation and delivering affordable, accessible and quality healthcare to every citizen.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare ecosystem, the Prime Minister said India’s growing investment in medical education and healthcare infrastructure would help create a stronger, more resilient and future-ready healthcare system for the nation.
