New Delhi, 13th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on April 14 to inaugurate the ambitious Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor and review key infrastructure projects.
The Prime Minister will begin his visit in Saharanpur, where he will inspect the elevated wildlife corridor section of the project. He will then visit the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun before inaugurating the corridor at a public event.
Major Infrastructure Boost
The 213-km-long six-lane access-controlled Delhi–Dehradun Economic Corridor, built at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore, will significantly enhance connectivity across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
Once operational, the corridor is expected to cut travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours to around 2.5 hours, offering faster and more efficient travel.
Advanced Features
The project includes 10 interchanges, three railway over bridges, four major bridges, and 12 wayside amenities. It is also equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to ensure safer and smoother travel.
Focus on Wildlife Protection
Given the ecological sensitivity of the region, the corridor incorporates several features to minimise human-animal conflict. These include a 12-km-long elevated wildlife corridor, one of the longest in Asia, along with animal passes, elephant underpasses, and a tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.
Economic and Tourism Impact
The corridor is expected to boost regional economic growth by improving connectivity between key tourism and commercial hubs, while also supporting trade and development.
