New Delhi, 30th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the 24th PM-KISAN instalment on October 30, transferring more than ₹18,690 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.34 crore farmers across India. The programme will take place in Banaskantha, Gujarat, alongside initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural infrastructure and improving farmers’ income opportunities.
The Prime Minister will also dedicate 521 units developed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) to the nation and inaugurate 12 horticulture clusters to encourage high-value crop production and strengthen agricultural value chains.
Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in a programme marking the instalment release in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh, where farmers are expected to gather to discuss key agricultural initiatives and support measures.
Over ₹4.47 Lakh Crore Disbursed Through PM-KISAN
With the first 23 instalments, more than ₹4.47 lakh crore has already been transferred to eligible farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
PM-KISAN provides income support to eligible farmer families through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), helping them manage agricultural expenses and household needs while supporting livelihood security.
The upcoming instalment is intended to continue this financial support and reinforce the government’s focus on farmers’ welfare and economic empowerment.
521 Agriculture Infrastructure Units to Be Dedicated
The 521 units developed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund are expected to strengthen agricultural storage, processing and related facilities.
The fund supports investments in warehouses, cold storage facilities, primary processing centres and other essential infrastructure. According to the figures provided, investments of approximately ₹1.75 lakh crore have been made across more than 2.28 lakh projects under the AIF.
These investments aim to reduce post-harvest losses, improve market access and help farmers secure better returns for their produce.
12 Horticulture Clusters to Promote High-Value Crops
The inauguration of 12 horticulture clusters is intended to promote high-value horticultural crops, strengthen supply chains and expand income opportunities for farmers.
Crop diversification into horticulture can help farmers explore additional markets and make agricultural activities more remunerative. The clusters are expected to support production and marketing across the horticulture value chain.
Focus on Self-Reliant and Sustainable Agriculture
The government has introduced several initiatives to support farmers, including the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Card, Minimum Support Price (MSP) measures and the Per Drop More Crop programme.
Other initiatives include the National Mission on Edible Oils, the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses and the National Mission on Natural Farming, which encourages sustainable agricultural practices through cluster-based development.
Together, these measures seek to strengthen financial assistance, improve access to credit, expand risk protection, encourage modern farming practices and build a more resilient agricultural sector in line with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
