New Delhi, 24th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised Union ministers to strengthen their engagement with young people by actively using Instagram, asking Cabinet colleagues to create reels and interactive content to communicate the Centre’s initiatives.
The suggestion was made during a Cabinet meeting, where the Prime Minister reportedly asked ministers how many of them actively use Instagram, noting that the platform is accessed daily by crores of young people.
Modi said ministers should not only inform citizens about the work being carried out by the Central Government but also interact directly with the youth through the platform. He encouraged every minister to create reels and other engaging content to improve communication with younger audiences.
The outreach push comes as thousands of students continue their protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET paper leak. Several students were injured during police action on July 20 when protesters attempted to march towards Parliament during the Monsoon Session.
On Thursday night, the Prime Minister released a video message on social media, including Instagram, announcing that the government would bring forward legislation providing for fast-track courts and stricter punishment in paper leak cases. He said the proposed law would be discussed by the Union Cabinet before being introduced in Parliament at the earliest.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Citizens’ Joint Platform (CJP) met Union Minister J.P. Nadda and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh on Friday to press their demands.
Following the meeting, CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka said the government had sought time until Saturday afternoon to respond to the demand for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. He also claimed the Centre had expressed in-principle agreement on demands relating to compensation for families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide and the withdrawal of FIRs and legal cases against protesting students.
However, government sources maintained that Dharmendra Pradhan continues to enjoy the BJP’s support and that his resignation is not under consideration.
