New Delhi, 24th July: Rajya Sabha on Friday paid solemn tribute to the martyrs of the Kargil War ahead of Kargil Vijay Diwas, with Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan leading the House in honouring the courage and sacrifice of India’s Armed Forces.
Making a reference in the House, the Chairman said the nation would observe Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory in the 1999 Kargil War and honour the officers and soldiers who defended the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity with exemplary courage, valour and unwavering devotion to duty.
The Chairman said the House paid its respectful homage to the gallant martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation and expressed profound gratitude to all members of the Armed Forces for their indomitable courage, steadfast determination and selfless dedication.
He said the bravery of the Armed Forces continues to inspire the nation and strengthens the collective resolve to uphold India’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Chairman invited all Members of the House to join in paying tribute to the brave martyrs and requested them to rise and observe silence as a mark of respect to their memory.
