President Murmu Confers Padma Awards 2026

65 distinguished personalities honoured during second Civil Investiture Ceremony in New Delhi

New Delhi, 24th June: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday conferred the Padma Awards 2026 on distinguished personalities from across the country at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The awards included Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri honours.

The ceremony was attended by Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with several other dignitaries.

According to official information, 65 awardees were honoured during the second phase of the Civil Investiture Ceremony, including two Padma Vibhushan recipients, seven Padma Bhushan awardees and 56 Padma Shri awardees.

Among the prominent personalities honoured were veteran actor Mammootty, playback singer Alka Yagnik, cricketer Rohit Sharma and actor R. Madhavan, who were recognised for their contributions in their respective fields.

The Padma Awards, among India’s highest civilian honours, are conferred annually in three categories—Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri—to recognise exceptional and distinguished service in fields such as art, literature, education, sports, medicine, science, public affairs and social work.

The government had announced 131 Padma Awards for 2026 on the eve of Republic Day, with the remaining awardees being honoured through multiple investiture ceremonies.
