President, PM Launch ₹47,600 Crore Odisha Projects

President Murmu says development is meaningful only when it reaches every citizen and village

Rairangpur, 20th June: President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday participated in the programme marking two years of the Odisha Government and jointly inaugurated 60 projects while laying foundation stones for 12 projects worth ₹47,600 crore in Mayurbhanj district.

The projects span sectors including energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism and irrigation, aimed at strengthening connectivity and accelerating economic growth in the state.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu said development becomes meaningful only when its benefits reach every village, every family and every citizen. She said improving human development indicators in tribal areas, remote regions and aspirational districts remains a priority.

The President highlighted various initiatives for tribal welfare, including the Pradhan Mantri Van-Dhan Yojana, National Sickle Cell Anaemia Elimination Mission, Eklavya Model Residential Schools and Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan.

Praising Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Murmu said India’s stature on the global stage has risen significantly under his leadership and noted his record as the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in continuous tenure.

Prime Minister Modi extended birthday wishes to President Murmu and described his visit to her native region of Mayurbhanj as a memorable experience. He announced that Pahadpur village would be developed as a Surya Gram, ensuring solar power facilities in every household.

Modi also congratulated the Mohan Charan Majhi-led Odisha Government on completing two years in office and said the double-engine government was accelerating the state’s development through infrastructure, welfare schemes and investment-led growth.

Earlier, the President and the Prime Minister offered prayers at Gosani Peeth, Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera, and visited the Skill Centre and School at Pahadpur.
