New Delhi, 11th Sept: Prince Rahim Aga Khan V called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on September 10, during his first official visit to India since assuming the role of the Aga Khan.
Welcoming Prince Rahim Aga Khan V, President Murmu offered her condolences on the passing of his father, the late Aga Khan IV. She said that India regards Aga Khan IV and the work undertaken by the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) with great respect and affection.
The President appreciated the projects implemented by the Aga Khan Development Network in India in areas including water and sanitation, education, maternal health, urban redevelopment, women’s empowerment and employment generation.
She said these initiatives are excellent examples of public-private partnerships and demonstrate how non-profit organisations, working in partnership with the government, can contribute to improving people’s quality of life.
