New Delhi, 2n July: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Prof. Umesh V. Waghmare as Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST).
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Prof. Waghmare, who is currently President and Professor at the Theoretical Sciences Unit of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR), Bengaluru, will assume charge as the new Science Secretary.
The appointment will take effect from the date he assumes office and will remain valid until he attains the age of 60 years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet and notified by the DoPT on July 1.
