New Delhi, 30th Oct: The Supreme Court on Friday cancelled the bail granted to former Mokama MLA Anant Singh in the Dularchand Yadav murder case, directing him to surrender before the competent authorities and court on or before December 1, 2026.

A bench of Justices M.M. Sundresh and P.V. Varale set aside the Patna High Court’s March 2026 order granting bail to Singh. The Supreme Court observed that the High Court had failed to adequately consider the seriousness of the alleged crime and Singh’s criminal antecedents while deciding his bail application.

The bench noted that the nature of the allegations and the criminal cases registered against the accused were relevant considerations in determining whether he should remain out on bail.

The Supreme Court also directed the investigating agency and Bihar Police to complete the remaining investigation into the murder case within four months.

What Is the Dularchand Yadav Murder Case?
The case relates to the murder of Dularchand Yadav during the Bihar Assembly election campaign in 2025. He was allegedly shot dead amid political rivalry in the Mokama area.

According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s family at Ghoswari police station, Anant Singh and his associates allegedly assaulted Yadav before shooting him. Police arrested Singh on November 1, 2025, and sent him to jail.

Despite being in custody, Singh contested the Assembly election and won from Mokama. He was subsequently granted bail by the Patna High Court in March 2026. The victim’s family later challenged the bail order before the Supreme Court.

Political Setback After JDU Expulsion
The Supreme Court ruling comes amid a period of political uncertainty for Singh. The former MLA was recently expelled from the Janata Dal (United) along with his wife, Neelam Devi, for six years following disciplinary action over alleged anti-party activities during the Bihar Legislative Council elections.

He was accused of working against the party’s candidate, Neeraj Kumar, during the election.

The cancellation of his bail adds another legal challenge for the former Mokama legislator, who must now comply with the Supreme Court’s surrender deadline.
