Jalaun, 30th Oct: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted a clandestine synthetic drug manufacturing laboratory in a remote village in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district, seizing approximately 1,100 kg of drugs and precursor chemicals, along with manufacturing equipment. Two persons have been arrested in connection with the DRI drug laboratory bust.

Acting on specific intelligence, a team of DRI officers, with operational support from the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), launched a coordinated operation at the suspected premises in the early hours of October 29.

The search uncovered a fully functional laboratory equipped for synthetic drug production. Officials seized around 184 kg of semi-prepared drugs, approximately 582 kg of precursor chemicals and equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Follow-up searches at the residential premises of the accused led to the recovery of around 15.4 kg of finished methaqualone, 153 kg of chemicals and a manufacturing machine. Another search at the premises of a second accused resulted in the seizure of approximately 168 kg of precursor chemicals.

The two persons associated with the facility were arrested under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

The recovery of finished drugs, semi-prepared substances, precursor chemicals and manufacturing equipment points to an organised illicit drug production operation. The action has disrupted the facility’s production capacity and removed substantial quantities of drugs and chemicals from the illicit supply chain.
