Scindia Lays Foundation for 7th Postal Training Centre
Shivpuri centre to provide technology-focused training as modernised Head Post Office opens with Jan Sewa Connect

Shivpuri, 2nd Sept: Union Minister for Communications and DoNER Jyotiraditya M. Scindia on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the country’s seventh Postal Training Centre at Kakarvaya in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, marking an expansion of the Department of Posts’ training and capacity-building network.
Speaking at the programme, Scindia said the new centre would strengthen learning and capacity building for postal employees. He highlighted the importance of the Guru-Shishya Parampara and said the facility would be equipped with new-age technologies to meet the changing requirements of postal operations and service delivery.
The centre will serve as a national-level training facility for postal personnel from Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states. Shivpuri was selected as a training hub because of its central location and connectivity.
Scindia said the establishment of the centre would save postal employees from Madhya Pradesh the need to travel nearly 600 kilometres for training.
The new facility will expand the Department of Posts’ existing network of six Postal Training Centres located at Saharanpur, Vadodara, Mysuru, Guwahati, Madurai and Darbhanga. These centres collectively train around 2,000 personnel every year.
Modernised Shivpuri Head Post Office inaugurated
Scindia also inaugurated the renovated Shivpuri Head Post Office during the programme. The facility has been modernised in accordance with design guidelines of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi.
The upgraded post office includes Jan Sewa Connect, a multi-purpose citizen facilitation centre offering several Department of Posts services at a single location. It also features modern service counters, improved customer amenities and barrier-free access.
Services available at the modernised facility include Speed Post, Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance, Aadhaar, parcel and other postal and financial services.
The initiative follows the inauguration of 14 Jan Sewa Connect Post Offices across the country by Scindia a week earlier, further expanding the Department of Posts’ focus on accessible and citizen-centric services.
The programme was attended by Madhya Pradesh Energy Minister and Minister-in-Charge of Shivpuri Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Shivpuri MLA Devendra Jain, Kolaras MLA Mahendra Ramsingh Yadav, Pichhore MLA Pritam Singh Lodhi, District Panchayat Chairperson Neha-Amit Yadav, Municipal Council Chairperson Gayatri Sharma and senior officials of the Department of Posts.
