Karwar, 9th July: At least seven people were killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a truck and a Tempo Traveller collided head-on in Karnataka’s Arebail Ghat on the Yellapur-Karwar highway.
According to officials, all the victims were residents of Dharwad and were travelling in the Tempo Traveller on a leisure trip when the accident occurred.
The impact of the collision was severe, killing seven occupants on the spot. Two injured passengers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Rescue teams were deployed immediately to recover the bodies and assist the injured before shifting them to hospital.
Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
