New Delhi, 22nd Aug: The Delhi Police has arrested six people and detained two minors in connection with the alleged robbery of ₹75 lakh from a residence in Ashok Vihar, with investigators recovering ₹51.52 lakh in cash and three mobile phones.

The robbery was reported on August 19 at around 11:35 am, when 54-year-old Neera Verma was reportedly alone at her residence. Police said her husband had left for their factory around 9 am, while her twin daughters left for their wholesale store in Chawri Bazaar at around 11:30 am.

According to police, shortly after the daughters left, two suspects approached the house and asked for water. When Verma became suspicious and attempted to close the gate, the accused allegedly forced their way inside and dragged her into the house.

Police said the woman was allegedly tied up and threatened with a knife. Two more accomplices subsequently entered the premises, allegedly restrained her with tape and gagged her before ransacking the house for around 25 minutes.

The suspects reportedly fled with cash that the family had saved for business requirements and their daughters’ weddings.

During the investigation, police found that the accused had allegedly conducted surveillance of the residence for more than a month before carrying out the robbery.

Investigators used CCTV footage, technical surveillance and information from informers to identify and trace the suspects. Raids were subsequently conducted at multiple locations across Delhi, Ghaziabad and Amritsar, leading to the arrests.

Police said ₹2.40 lakh was recovered from Naman Sharma, ₹22 lakh from Deepak, ₹6.40 lakh from Dinesh, ₹6 lakh from Ansh Sharma and ₹8.50 lakh from Sahil.

Another accused, Aryan, was arrested in Amritsar. Police recovered ₹5.5 lakh in cash and an Apple iPhone 17 Pro, valued at around ₹1.37 lakh, from him.

In total, investigators have recovered ₹51.52 lakh in cash along with three mobile phones valued at approximately ₹2.33 lakh.

The police said further investigation is underway to establish the complete sequence of events and identify any additional links in the case.
