Nashik, 18th April: Amid an ongoing police probe into allegations of religious conversion and sexual misconduct at its Nashik unit, Tata Consultancy Services on Friday said it has not received any complaints through its internal ethics or POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) mechanisms.
“A preliminary review of systems and records indicates that no complaints of this nature were received through our internal channels,” the company said in a statement.
Oversight Panel Announced
TCS has constituted an oversight panel and engaged external entities to ensure an independent internal investigation. The panel will be chaired by Keki Mistry, an independent director on the company’s board.
The move comes as scrutiny intensifies over alleged workplace misconduct and possible lapses in grievance redressal.
Police Action and Allegations
Police have arrested seven employees, including six men and a woman HR head, in connection with the case. Another accused, Nida Khan, remains absconding.
The case surfaced after a woman accused a colleague of entering into a physical relationship on the false promise of marriage. Police said additional complainants later came forward, alleging mental and sexual harassment and inaction by the HR department.
Role of Key Accused Under Probe
According to investigators, Nida Khan allegedly made derogatory remarks about the complainant’s religion and attempted to pressure her to convert. Police are also probing allegations that certain facts were concealed from the victim.
A Nashik Crime Branch team visited Mumbra in Thane to trace Khan and questioned her husband regarding her whereabouts. Her family has claimed she is in Mumbai and expecting her first child, while she has moved court seeking anticipatory bail.
TCS clarified that Khan was a process associate and not part of HR or recruitment functions.
Company’s Response
The company said all employees linked to the case have been suspended and reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on harassment.
Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran described the allegations as “gravely concerning and anguishing,” adding that a thorough probe is underway to establish facts and accountability.
