Krishnanagar, 23rd April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday intensified his campaign in West Bengal, asserting that the ruling All India Trinamool Congress will struggle to open its account in several districts.

Addressing a rally in Krishnanagar ahead of the second phase of Assembly elections, Modi unveiled a “10-point guarantee” centred on welfare measures for women, children and economically weaker sections.

He said that crimes against women would be dealt with strictly if the BJP comes to power and announced plans to establish women police stations in every block and increase recruitment of women in the police force.

The Prime Minister promised financial support schemes, including ₹36,000 annually for women, ₹50,000 assistance for girls’ graduation, and ₹21,000 support for pregnant women. He also said additional funds would be provided to improve child nutrition.

Highlighting welfare initiatives, Modi said benefits under schemes such as Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, Mudra loans up to ₹20 lakh for self-employment, and Ayushman Bharat health coverage up to ₹5 lakh would be expanded. He also stated that houses under the PM Awas Yojana would be registered in the name of women.

He said a BJP government would ensure accountability in governance, reopen cases related to corruption and crimes against women, and take action against those involved irrespective of position.

The Prime Minister also said that benefits would be extended to eligible refugees while asserting that illegal infiltration would not be allowed.

He added that the 7th Pay Commission would be implemented for state employees, teachers and related sectors if the BJP forms the government.

The second phase of polling in West Bengal is scheduled for April 29, with counting on May 4.
