VP Radhakrishnan Pays Tribute to Armed Forces in Ladakh
Visits war memorial, Sindhu Ghat, Pashmina farm and ITBP battalion during official tour

Leh, 20th June: Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday visited key heritage, development and strategic sites in Ladakh on Friday, paying tribute to the Armed Forces, appreciating local development initiatives and interacting with Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel.
At the Hall of Fame War Memorial in Leh, the Vice-President paid homage to India’s brave soldiers and praised the Armed Forces for their unwavering commitment and spirit of “Nation First: Always and Every Time”. He also visited galleries showcasing the Indo-Pak and Indo-China wars.
The Vice-President offered prayers at the sacred Sindhu Ghat and said that the Sindhu River represents Bharat’s rich civilizational heritage and cultural unity.
During his visit to the Pashmina Goat Farm at Upshi, Radhakrishnan appreciated efforts to preserve Ladakh’s renowned Pashmina heritage and highlighted its role in strengthening rural livelihoods and enhancing women’s economic empowerment.
He also inspected the first rock check dam on the Sindhu River developed under the Sindhu Jal Samriddhi Abhiyan and described it as an innovative and sustainable solution to address Ladakh’s water challenges.
Later, the Vice-President interacted with personnel of the 5th Battalion of the ITBP and praised their dedication and professionalism in protecting the country’s borders under extreme conditions.
Radhakrishnan is on a three-day official visit to Ladakh from June 19 to 21 and will participate in the International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21.
