According to the Ministry of Defence, the Indian Coast Guard’s Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), Mumbai, received information about the attack on the tanker, which was anchored off Masirah, Oman, at approximately 2:20 pm on June 8.
Following the alert, MRCC Mumbai immediately established communication with the Oman Maritime Search and Rescue Centre (OMSC) and maintained close coordination with Omani authorities and other stakeholders to monitor the situation and facilitate the safety of the crew.
At around 5 pm, the Oman Maritime Search and Rescue Centre confirmed that all 24 Indian seafarers had been rescued by helicopters of the Royal Navy of Oman.
Officials said all crew members were brought to safety without any casualties or injuries.
The vessel remains anchored off Masirah, Oman, while authorities continue to monitor the situation.
The Ministry said the successful operation highlighted the effectiveness of international maritime cooperation and the strong coordination mechanisms among maritime rescue agencies in the region.
It also underscored the Indian Coast Guard’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of Indian seafarers and providing timely assistance during maritime emergencies.
