Hardoi, 29th April: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the ambitious Ganga Expressway, describing it as Uttar Pradesh’s new development lifeline and a transformative gateway to economic expansion, industrialization and connectivity.

The 594-kilometre greenfield expressway, built at a cost of ₹36,230 crore, connects 12 major districts from Meerut to Prayagraj and is expected to drastically reduce travel time, improve freight movement and strengthen regional integration.

Calling the project a symbol of both development and heritage, Modi said the expressway reflects the blessings of Maa Ganga while serving as a modern infrastructure backbone for the state’s future.

He emphasized that the corridor would boost agriculture by improving market access for farmers, enable industrial corridors, expand MSME opportunities and create large-scale employment for youth.

The Prime Minister highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s transformation from a “BIMARU” state to a major investment and manufacturing hub, citing progress in semiconductors, defense production, mobile manufacturing and logistics.

Modi also took aim at opposition parties, accusing previous governments of neglecting infrastructure, fostering lawlessness and opposing women’s political empowerment.

He said the Ganga Expressway is part of a broader vision to make Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy and a central pillar of India’s Viksit Bharat mission.

The project is expected to emerge as one of India’s most critical strategic and economic transport corridors.
