Indore, 1st May: Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav has intensified efforts to strengthen the city’s long-term urban infrastructure by accelerating work on the under-construction 120 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Kabirkhedi.
During an on-site inspection, Bhargav reviewed project progress alongside municipal officials and public representatives, emphasizing the importance of sustainable sewage management for Indore’s expanding population.
He said the project forms a critical part of the city’s broader vision to build future-ready infrastructure, complementing major initiatives such as the fourth phase of the Narmada project and solar energy expansion.
According to civic authorities, the Kabirkhedi STP is scheduled for completion by March 2027.
Bhargav stressed that strengthening sewage treatment infrastructure is essential to maintain Indore’s cleanliness standards while improving environmental conservation and water resource management.
The plant is expected to significantly enhance the city’s sanitation network and reinforce Indore’s reputation as one of India’s leading urban governance models.
Officials also indicated that further expansion of sewage treatment capacity is being planned to address long-term demographic growth.
The project represents a major investment in sustainable urban planning and ecological resilience.
