West Bengal :Suvendhu Adhikari’s PA Shot Dead

Kolkata, West Bengal, 7th May : In a shocking incident that has sent ripples across the political landscape of West Bengal, Chandranath Rath, the personal assistant of senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was shot dead in Madhyamgram near Bhawanipur late Tuesday evening. The Driver who had been driving the car is also injured and undergoing the treatment .The attack comes days ahead of the planned oath taking ceremony on May 9 and raises serious questions over security and law and order in the state. In the meantime the Vehicle that was used for the attack has been recovered.Some are assuming that Mamta Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee Are behind it on the other hand few are of the opinion that it may be a work of Zihadis and the Main target was Suvendu Adhikari.
Initial reports said Rath was attacked by two motorcycle riders, who were unidentified. Eyewitnesses said the attackers came close to him and opened fire with several shots, indicating a planned killing in an execution style. The incident occurred in a busy area and caused panic among local residents.
Rath was taken to a nearby hospital but doctors said he was dead on arrival. Police officials confirmed that he had received several bullet injuries, mostly in the upper part of the body, and there was little chance of survival. The attackers fled the scene quickly and a manhunt has been launched to trace their whereabouts.
Senior police officers have arrived at the scene and forensic teams are examining evidence to establish the sequence of events. Images from CCTV cameras in the surrounding area are being examined to identify the suspects and piece together the escape route. No angle has been excluded, from political rivalry, personal enemity to organised crime.
The killing has drawn sharp political reactions across the state. Bharatiya Janata Party leaders claimed complete breakdown of law and order and demanded a high-level probe into the incident. They have also expressed concern about the safety of the political workers and associates in the current environment.
However, officials of the state administration have assured that strict action will be taken and the culprits will be booked at the earliest. Sensitive areas have been put under tighter security especially with the oath ceremony scheduled to take place soon.
The incident comes amid a spate of violent incidents reported in recent months, further complicating the debate on public safety in West Bengal. The attack was seen as potentially exacerbating tensions between rival parties, coming just before a major political event.
