New Delhi, 16th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday extended greetings to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of the state’s Statehood Day, as Sikkim marked its historic 50th year of statehood.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister said the contribution of Sikkim to India’s development journey is deeply valued and appreciated.
“Greetings to my sisters and brothers on their Statehood Day. The contribution of Sikkim to India’s development is deeply valued. Wishing the people of the state good health and prosperity,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister also recalled his recent visit to Sikkim during the 50th Statehood Day celebrations and said he was touched by the warmth and affection shown by the people of the Himalayan state.
“The warmth I received in Sikkim will remain a part of my memory,” he said.
Modi further assured continued support from the Central Government for Sikkim’s future growth and development.
“The Central Government will keep supporting Sikkim’s growth trajectory in the times to come,” the Prime Minister added.
Sikkim became the 22nd state of India in 1975 and is celebrating its golden jubilee Statehood Day this year with a series of official and cultural events.
