New Delhi, 16th May: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Ali Falih Kadhim al-Zaidi on assuming office as the Prime Minister of Iraq.

In a message posted on X, Modi said India highly values its longstanding and friendly relations with Iraq and remains committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation across sectors.

“Heartiest congratulations to Ali Falih Kadhim al-Zaidi on assuming office as Prime Minister of Iraq,” the Prime Minister said.

Modi added that India looks forward to working closely with the new Iraqi leadership for the shared progress and prosperity of both nations.

“India highly values its longstanding and friendly ties with Iraq and remains firmly committed to further strengthening our bilateral ties in all areas,” he stated.

The Prime Minister also extended his best wishes to al-Zaidi and expressed hope for deeper cooperation between the two countries in the coming years.

India and Iraq share close historical and economic ties, particularly in the energy sector, trade and people-to-people relations.
