Oslo, 19th May: Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, on Tuesday met Petteri Orpo, Prime Minister of Finland, on the sidelines of the 3rd India-Nordic Summit in Oslo and reviewed expanding bilateral cooperation in digitalisation and sustainability.

The two leaders discussed the recently elevated India-Finland Strategic Partnership focused on digitalisation and sustainable development and stressed the importance of stronger collaboration between industries, research institutions and academic sectors.

According to an official statement, both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation in trade and investment, artificial intelligence, digitalisation, 5G and 6G technologies, quantum technologies, renewable energy, innovation, education, mobility and people-to-people ties.

The leaders highlighted the role of sustainability and digital transformation in driving future economic growth and development.

India and Finland also reaffirmed their commitment to doubling bilateral trade by 2030 despite global economic challenges.

Both sides welcomed the growing presence of Indian and Finnish technology companies in each other’s markets through expanded operations and strategic partnerships.

The Finnish side appreciated the contribution of Indian professionals to Finland’s technology and innovation sector.

The leaders also announced that India and Finland will jointly host the World Circular Economy Forum in September 2026 in Gandhinagar.

Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Orpo further discussed regional and global developments and emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation in international organisations.

The two leaders also expressed satisfaction over the progress in the India-European Union Strategic Partnership and underlined the need for the early implementation of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement.

India and Finland share longstanding relations based on democratic values and growing cooperation across multiple sectors.
