The meeting focused on expanding economic and developmental partnerships between the two countries and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.

Following the discussions, Prime Minister Modi described Venezuela as an important partner for India in Latin America and emphasized the significance of closer cooperation for the Global South.

“Happy to meet with the Acting President of Venezuela, Ms. Delcy Rodríguez. We had extensive discussions on expanding our cooperation in energy, critical minerals, technology, agriculture, health and people-to-people ties,” Modi said in a post on X.

The Prime Minister noted that India and Venezuela share common interests in promoting development, economic growth and international cooperation among developing nations.

“As a valued partner in Latin America, our close cooperation with Venezuela holds immense importance for the Global South. We will continue to work together for the mutual benefit of the people of our nations,” he said.

The discussions come as India continues to strengthen engagement with countries across Latin America in sectors such as energy security, trade, mining, agriculture and emerging technologies.

Venezuela remains a significant energy-producing nation and an important stakeholder in global energy markets. The talks also explored opportunities for collaboration in critical minerals, a sector gaining strategic importance amid the global transition to clean energy technologies.

Both sides expressed confidence that enhanced cooperation in key sectors would further deepen bilateral relations and contribute to shared developmental objectives.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of India and Venezuela to expanding strategic partnerships while advancing the interests of the Global South through greater economic and technological collaboration.
