Hyderabad, 10th June: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Roads and Buildings Department Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik Jarupla in a disproportionate assets case after searches allegedly revealed assets worth ₹17.95 crore.
The case was registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act following allegations that the senior government official accumulated wealth beyond his known sources of income during his service tenure.
ACB teams conducted searches at the officer’s residence, office and 15 other locations linked to relatives, associates and alleged beneficiaries.
According to officials, the raids led to the detection of several movable and immovable assets, including agricultural land, flats, villas, cash deposits, jewellery and vehicles.
Among the assets identified were five agricultural land parcels measuring 19.38 acres in Mullangi village of Nizamabad district, officially valued at around ₹82.9 lakh.
Investigators also found seven residential flats, including three in Kompally and four in Gachibowli, with a combined official valuation of approximately ₹7.35 crore.
The ACB further detected a triplex villa in Miyapur valued at about ₹2.5 crore, a newly constructed house in Kukatpally worth ₹62.14 lakh and an advance payment of ₹1 crore made towards the purchase of another villa in Nizampet.
Officials said the market value of the properties is likely to be significantly higher than their registered valuation.
During the searches, ACB personnel seized ₹55 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth ₹1.44 crore, gold ornaments weighing nearly 2.5 kg valued at around ₹2 crore and silver ornaments weighing about 6 kg worth ₹3.6 lakh.
Household articles valued at ₹1.26 crore, electronic devices including nine mobile phones and four laptops worth ₹11.25 lakh, and two vehicles valued at ₹25 lakh were also detected.
Based on the findings so far, the anti-corruption agency has estimated the total value of the assets at ₹17.95 crore. However, officials indicated that the actual market value could exceed ₹100 crore due to prevailing real estate prices in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.
“The verification of additional assets is still underway, and the investigation is continuing,” an ACB official said.
Following his arrest, Jarupla was produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases in Hyderabad for judicial proceedings.
The ACB said further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the assets and determine whether additional financial irregularities are involved in the case.
