Gaya, 15th June: Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Jitan Ram Manjhi and Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday laid the foundation stone for a new Technology Centre at Khizarsarai in Gaya district, a project aimed at boosting industrial growth, skill development and employment generation in southern Bihar.
The ceremony began with a traditional Bhoomi Pujan, marking the start of the ₹170-crore project that is expected to strengthen the MSME ecosystem and provide advanced technological support to industries in the region.
Senior officials from the Ministry of MSME, Bihar government ministers, industry representatives and local stakeholders attended the event.
Technology Support for MSMEs
Addressing the gathering, Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said the Technology Centre would provide technology support not only to MSMEs in Bihar but also to enterprises in neighbouring states.
He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to establish technology-driven centres across the country to promote innovation, skill development and industrial competitiveness.
Manjhi said the Gaya Technology Centre, once operational, will train nearly 7,000 youth annually and play a major role in creating employment opportunities.
Bihar’s Transformation Through Skill Development
Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary described the project as a transformative initiative for Bihar and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the establishment of such centres across the country.
He said the MSME sector is creating substantial employment opportunities and strengthening the foundation of self-reliance.
“This is the time for Bihar to transform and move forward with determination and hard work. The vision of Viksit Bharat can be achieved only when people gain employment and enhance their skills through technology and innovation,” Choudhary said.
Key Features of the Centre
MSME Secretary Bharat Khera said the Ministry is establishing Technology Centres and Extension Centres across various states and Union Territories. He noted that after the recent inauguration of the Technology Centre in Patna, the Gaya facility marks another major step in Bihar’s industrial development.
The Technology Centre will be developed with a total investment of ₹170 crore, including around ₹86 crore for civil works and ₹84 crore for plant and machinery.
The facility will focus on General Engineering, Heavy Engineering and Textile Testing sectors, offering advanced testing, tooling and technology support services.
It will primarily serve MSMEs in Gaya, Aurangabad, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad and Munger districts.
Employment and Industrial Growth
Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, MSME, Dr Rajneesh, highlighted the growth of the MSME sector and outlined the role the centre will play in strengthening Bihar’s industrial landscape.
The centre is expected to train 7,000 candidates annually through industry-oriented short-term and long-term programmes. It will also provide tooling services and job work support to more than 1,000 MSMEs every year.
Officials said the project will help bridge technology gaps, improve productivity, foster innovation and facilitate the integration of local enterprises into national and global supply chains.
The Technology Centre is expected to emerge as a major catalyst for industrial growth in the historic Magadh region while contributing to employment generation and economic development in southern Bihar.
