New Delhi, 4th Oct: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia congratulated Indian golfer Pranavi Urs over a video call following her historic gold medal-winning performance at the Asian Games 2026.

Scindia lauded Pranavi’s perseverance, hard work and composure, describing her achievement as a proud moment for Indian sport. He recalled having played alongside Pranavi during her school years and said it was particularly special to witness her journey from those early days to becoming an Asian Games champion.

The Union Minister also highlighted the role of the Madhavrao Scindia Foundation in Pranavi’s sporting journey. Pranavi, along with fellow golfer Diksha Dagar, has been associated with the Foundation’s sporting initiatives.

During the conversation, Scindia and Pranavi discussed her journey since the 2022 Asian Games, her preparation for the 2026 Games and the role of mental conditioning in high-level sport.

Pranavi spoke about the importance of sports psychology in preparing athletes to handle different situations on the golf course. The discussion also touched upon the patience and perseverance required to succeed at the highest level of competitive sport.

Scindia congratulated Pranavi, her parents, coaches and everyone who supported her journey, and wished her continued success in the years ahead.

Pranavi Urs’ triumph at the Asian Games came after a tense final round in which she had to overcome an early setback. The 23-year-old Mysuru golfer began the final round with a three-shot advantage, but a triple bogey on the third hole erased her lead. She responded with three birdies, maintained her composure and finished with an even-par 70 to register a four-round total of 15-under 265. Her one-stroke victory made her the first Indian woman to win an individual Asian Games golf gold. She also helped India secure silver in the women’s team event alongside Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar.
