Govt Extends Petrochemical Duty Exemption Till July 15
Move aims to ensure uninterrupted supplies and support manufacturing sectors amid lingering West Asia disruptions

New Delhi, 30th June: The Centre on Tuesday extended the full customs duty exemption on imports of critical petrochemical products until July 15, 2026, providing continued relief to domestic manufacturers amid the lingering impact of supply chain disruptions caused by the conflict in West Asia.
The exemption, which was earlier scheduled to expire on June 30, has been extended for an additional 15 days to ensure a smooth transition as the global supply situation gradually normalises, according to an official statement.
The government had introduced the temporary exemption to maintain adequate availability of petrochemical products in the domestic market after Indian petroleum companies were directed to prioritise the production of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) during the period of supply disruptions.
The list of eligible petrochemical products covered under the exemption remains unchanged from the earlier notification.
The extension is expected to benefit a broad range of manufacturing industries that rely on petrochemical feedstock and intermediates, including plastics, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, automotive components and several other industrial sectors.
The government said the decision would help maintain uninterrupted supplies, reduce input costs for manufacturers and ultimately provide relief to consumers of finished products.
The Centre reiterated its commitment to supporting India’s manufacturing sector while ensuring supply chain stability during evolving global economic conditions.
