New Delhi, 17th July: The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare will organise the 2nd National Workshop on Pension Litigation in New Delhi on July 18 to strengthen coordination among stakeholders and reduce pension-related litigation.

Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Dr Jitendra Singh will address the plenary session of the workshop, which will be attended by nodal officers, panel counsels from various Ministries and Departments, and legal experts.

According to the Department, the workshop aims to identify recurring issues leading to pension-related disputes and evolve a consensus among stakeholders to minimise litigation through timely resolution of grievances.

Officials said issues such as differing interpretations of pension rules, delays in releasing pensionary benefits, family pension claims and variations in pension payments are among the major causes of litigation.

The plenary session will also feature addresses by Attorney General R. Venkataramani, Secretary (Pension) Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary (Law) Dr Rajiv Mani, and Secretary (ESW) Sukriti Likhi. The programme will include two technical sessions focusing on improving pension litigation management.

The Department said the workshop builds on the first National Workshop on Pension Litigation held in July 2025, which brought together more than 300 nodal officers and panel lawyers from Ministries and Departments across the country.
