New Delhi, 18th July: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the fireworks factory mishap in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and announced financial assistance for the victims from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).

The Prime Minister said he was saddened by the tragic incident and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the explosion.

Modi announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the PMNRF to the next of kin of each person who died in the mishap, while ₹50,000 will be provided to every injured person.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected by the incident.

The explosion at a fireworks factory in Ahmedabad earlier in the day claimed several lives and left multiple people injured, prompting rescue and relief operations by local authorities. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
