Gandhinagar, 20th Aug: The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has announced ‘Friends of MY Bharat’, a new digital initiative aimed at strengthening engagement with Indian-origin youth living across the world and encouraging their participation in India’s nation-building efforts.
The initiative was unveiled by Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse during the BRICS Youth Summit 2026 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
The new module, hosted on the MY Bharat platform, will enable Indian-origin students, young professionals and youth residing abroad to register as ‘Friends of MY Bharat’ and participate in volunteering initiatives and youth-led programmes, irrespective of their geographical location.
According to the ministry, the platform will allow users to share details of their youth clubs and associations while providing information on volunteering opportunities in areas such as education, environmental conservation, health awareness, disaster relief and cultural preservation.
A dedicated ‘Know Your India’ section will offer curated content on India’s culture, heritage, history, tourism, travel and prominent leaders, helping young members of the Indian diaspora strengthen their connection with the country.
The platform will also showcase flagship MY Bharat initiatives and other national youth programmes, creating greater awareness about India’s youth-led development journey and encouraging wider global participation.
The announcement was made in the presence of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Member of Parliament Dr. Hemang Joshi, Additional Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs Nitesh Kumar Mishra, and youth delegates from BRICS member and partner countries.
The ministry said the initiative represents a significant step towards creating a sustained global youth engagement ecosystem by bringing together the ideas, skills and aspirations of Indian-origin youth to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat.
Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 31, 2023, Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) is a national youth platform built on the principles of Seva, Kartavya and Jan Bhagidari, connecting young people with volunteering, leadership, mentorship, skill development and nation-building opportunities.
