IICT, Netflix Offer Scholarships to 100 Creative-Tech Students
Up to 80% financial support announced across six AVGC-XR programmes

New Delhi, 26th Aug: The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and Netflix have announced scholarships for 100 students, offering up to 80% financial support across six professional programmes in the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem.
The initiative covers two one-year diploma programmes — Interactive Comics & Sequential Arts and Visual Effects Mastery — and four six-month certificate programmes in Virtual Art Department Content Creation, Media Tech Workflow, Art of Character Animation, and E-Sports & Gaming Management.
The scholarships will be available to students and working professionals across India. The curriculum for IICT’s Visual Effects Mastery and Media Tech Workflow programmes has been developed in line with contemporary industry workflows and global standards, with inputs from Netflix.
The initiative follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos on August 5, 2026, when the Netflix India Storytelling Initiative was launched to strengthen India’s creative talent pipeline.
Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting and Chairman of the IICT Board, Chanchal Kumar, said India’s creative economy is undergoing significant transformation and stressed the importance of industry partnerships in preparing future talent.
IICT CEO Dr Vishwas Deoskar said the collaboration would bring industry perspectives into academic training while improving financial access to specialised creative-technology education.
FICCI AVGC-XR Forum Chairman Munjal Shroff said the partnership marked a shift towards industry-aligned talent development for India’s AVGC-XR sector.
IICT is the national centre of excellence for the AVGC-XR sector, established by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra, FICCI and CII. The institute currently operates from the NFDC Complex in Mumbai, with its permanent campus being developed at Film City, Goregaon.
