New Delhi, 1st Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the valedictory session of the Departmental Summit of the Ministry of Jal Shakti on September 2, 2026, at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in New Delhi.
The two-day summit, being held on September 1 and 2, is the first in a series of Departmental Summits envisioned by the Prime Minister to strengthen the spirit of Team India, deepen cooperative federalism and promote collective ownership of national priorities.
The summit brings together political leadership and senior officials from the Union and state governments to discuss sectoral priorities, share best practices, address implementation challenges and develop time-bound action plans.
Four priorities on water security
The discussions will focus on four key areas:
- Timely implementation of water infrastructure projects
- Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari – Catch the Rain
- Sustainability of drinking water sources
- Operation and maintenance of rural drinking water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0
The government expects the consultations to lead to concrete and time-bound measures to accelerate water infrastructure projects, expand public participation in water conservation and ensure sustainable sources of drinking water.
The summit will also focus on improving the reliability and accountability of rural drinking water services through stronger Centre-State coordination.
