India ‘Ready to Help’ End Ukraine War: Jaishankar

WASHINGTON – External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Thursday told his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha that India is ‘ready to help’ end the Ukraine war.

The meeting between the Indian and Ukrainian foreign ministers came after PM Modi told Putin that the Ukraine war should end.

“If India can be of any help, in any manner, we are there,” Jaishankar told Sybiha during their meeting in Kyiv, according tomedia reports.

Modi, who met Putin in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit, called for peace in the region.

He said that India supports all efforts towards peace, asserting that every day spent in war sets humanity back, whereas every step taken towards peace fills humanity with new hope and enthusiasm.

“We must move away from endless war towards an end to the war. This is essential for the well-being of humanity. A peaceful resolution to all issues at the earliest is the call of humanity, and this is India’s message. The land of Gandhi and the land of Buddha share a single message: the path of peace,” he said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude towards the Indian prime minister for his call for an end to the war.

“India is a global power and we welcome Prime Minister Modi’s call to move from an endless war towards an end to the war. Ukraine stands ready for diplomacy,” Sybiha said during the talks.

Jaishankar also raised the issue of seafarers’ safety in the Black Sea, emphasized the need to restore freedom of navigation.

“During our negotiations, we discussed the need to restore freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and global food security,” Sybiha said.

Both discussed bilateral cooperation between New Delhi and Kyiv.

“From infrastructure and pharmaceutical sector to technological innovation and digitalization, we are ready to realise our full potential,” he added.
