Zelensky Thanks India for Push to End Ukraine War
Ukrainian President meets Jaishankar in Kyiv as both sides discuss peace efforts and bilateral cooperation

WASHINGTON – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday said that Kyiv is grateful to New Delhi for its “clear position” that the Ukraine war should end and peace must prevail.
He made the remarks after his meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is on Ukraine visit.
Jaishankar called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv to discuss bilateral ties and ways to end the ongoing conflict in the region.
EAM Jaishankar posted on X after meeting Zelensky “Pleased to call on President Zelensky today. Apprised him of discussions with FM Andrii Sybiha on deepening our bilateral cooperation. Our conversation centered on approaches to end the ongoing conflict”.
Zelenskyy on X, stated that both sides discussed “important issues”, including the situation in Black Sea.
He said “Held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. We discussed important issues. We are grateful to India for its desire to end this unjust war — the war of Russia against Ukraine,”.
“This time must certainly not be a time of war. Peace is needed. This is India’s clear position,” Zelensky added.
It was the first-ever standalone bilateral visit by an Indian External Affairs Minister to Ukraine and comes days after PM Modi told Putin that the Ukraine war should end.
Modi met Putin in Bishkek on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, called for peace in the region.
PM said that India supports all efforts towards peace, asserting that every day spent in war sets humanity back, whereas every step taken towards peace fills humanity with new hope and enthusiasm.
“We must move away from endless war towards an end to the war. This is essential for the well-being of humanity. A peaceful resolution to all issues at the earliest is the call of humanity, and this is India’s message. The land of Gandhi and the land of Buddha share a single message: the path of peace,” he added.
