Mohan Bhagwat Explains ‘Hindu Rashtra’ Concept in London
RSS chief says diversity is natural and unity is the truth, while urging diaspora to serve India and remain global citizens

WASHINGTON – Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday rejected the notion that “intense hatred’ is the basis of his organization’s work, asserted that instead it is “Suddha Saatvik Prem (pure selfless love)” told a gathering in UK.
He was speaking at the “Celebrating Oneness” event in London, Bhagwat also explained the concept of ‘Hindu Rashtra’, stated the purpose is to tell the world that diversity is natural and unity is the truth.
“When we say Hindu, it is not a religion, it is not a worship. There may be Hindu religions. From Bharat Varsha, every kind of thought came out. From atheists to polytheists. But they all say, we have our say, but you have your say, you are also right. I tread my path; I will reach the same goal. You also come through your path, and you will reach the same goal. We need not convert each other. The purpose of Hindu Rashtra is to give this truth to the world that diversity is a natural, unity is truth,” he said.
He also said that every religion in India, including Islam, accepts ‘Gau Raksha’ or protection for cows
Bhagwat said that outreach to Gen Z and Gen Alpha that began soon after the July Jantar Mantar protest against papers leaks, he said that he has “greater faith” in the younger generations, which, he believed could achieve results more effectively and rapidly than the older generation.
“They possess the desire to make the world a better place If they feel something is right, they will step forward to do it; they will see it through. They do not worry about the consequences because they are young… If we provide them with a purpose and share the necessary insights from our experience—without imposing them—and let them find their own path and set their own goals (though not the methods) and execute them, they will achieve results more effectively and rapidly than we ever could,” the RSS chief Bhagwat said.
He also urged the Indian diaspora to spare time and means to serve “Matrabhumi” (mother nation) while also remaining honest to their “Karma Bhumi”.
“We can remain honest to our Karma Bhumi and we can strengthen ourselves to serve the Karma Bhumi If you have spare means and spare time to serve Bharat, remaining loyal to Britain, nobody prevents you from doing that… There are many institutions doing global service.
“Being faithful to our Matrabhumi or Punya Bhumi and Karma Bhumi and at the same time thinking and acting like a global citizen is not a contradiction. It is a logical evolution of your thought,” he remarked.
Bhagwat stressed on being self-sufficient, also highlighted the need for interdependence and international trade in the view of the prevailing West Asia crisis that has disrupted global trade.
“Nations have to have international trade. Taking that fact into account, we must be self-sufficient, but we must help this interdependence and international trade,” he added.
