New Delhi, 14th Sept: Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team after it retained the Asia Cup with an unbeaten campaign.
India defeated hosts China 1-0 in a closely contested final of the AHF Women’s Junior Asia Cup in Hulunbuir on Sunday. Sanika Chandrakant Mane scored the only goal of the match in the 17th minute to secure the title for India.
The victory marked India’s third consecutive Junior Women’s Asia Cup title and extended the team’s dominance in the continental competition. India also secured qualification for the FIH Junior Hockey World Cup with the triumph.
In a post on X, Modi described the achievement as a proud moment for Indian hockey and said the team’s success reflected the talent and determination of its players. He extended his best wishes to the entire team.
The Indian junior women’s triumph was part of a memorable day for Indian junior hockey, with the men’s team also winning the Junior Asia Cup after defeating South Korea 4-1 in the final.
