Dhar, 3rd Oct: A couple and their 13-year-old daughter were killed, while their other daughter was seriously injured after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Saturday, police said.
The accident took place at Pitgara crossing on the four-lane Mhow-Nimach Road, around 45 km from the Dhar district headquarters.
The deceased were identified as Rahul, 35, his wife Pooja, 30, and their 13-year-old daughter Suman, Additional Superintendent of Police Parul Belapurkar said. Their other daughter, Shivani, 15, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Badnawar.
According to police, the family was travelling to their farm in Kherwas when the truck collided with their motorcycle.
The accident triggered anger among local residents, who blocked the road for more than an hour following the deaths. The protest caused traffic congestion along the route.
Badnawar tehsildar Suresh Nagar said civic and police officials reached the spot and persuaded the villagers to clear the road, following which traffic movement was restored.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
