New Delhi, 5th Oct: The Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual harassment and molestation of women journalists by senior personnel of the Delhi Police during protests at Jantar Mantar on October 3, 2026.
In a statement, the IWPC said at least one woman journalist had publicly made serious allegations of sexual harassment and had named an ACP-rank officer in connection with the alleged incident.
The press body expressed concern that despite the complaint, an FIR had not been registered against the police official named in the allegation.
IWPC questions delay in FIR
The IWPC said the alleged incident and the subsequent delay in registering an FIR were particularly concerning, given that the allegations involve a senior police official and a woman journalist.
“It is shocking that despite the complaint, the police did not register an FIR against the said official. This remains pending,” the organisation said.
The IWPC said the delay reflected poorly on the law enforcement agency in the national capital and called for immediate action.
Demand for immediate registration of FIR
The organisation demanded that an FIR be registered without any further delay, describing it as the first step towards ensuring justice.
The statement was signed by IWPC President Sujata Raghavan and General Secretary Saroj Dhuliya.
The IWPC reiterated its strong condemnation of the alleged acts of sexual harassment and molestation and called for due legal action in the matter.
