Mumbai, 11th Oct: Mumbai will host the World Hindu Congress (WHC) 2026 on December 18, 19 and 20 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Bandra-Kurla Complex. The three-day event is expected to bring together more than 4,000 delegates from over 60 countries, including Hindu leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, media representatives, professionals and thinkers.
The opening session will be addressed by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat. The programme will feature more than 45 sessions and over 150 speakers representing diverse fields, including business, education, media, politics, women’s leadership, youth and Hindu organisations.
The theme of this year’s congress is “Samanam Vratam Saha Chittam” — Shared Commitment, Collective Resolve. The gathering aims to provide a global platform for Hindu leaders, institutions and individuals to exchange ideas, build networks and discuss their contributions to society.
Four Plenary Sessions to Explore Key Themes
Announcing the event, Swami Vigyananand, the initiator of the World Hindu Congress, said the Hindu community had become increasingly visible globally, but continued engagement and collective effort remained essential.
He described the congress as a structured platform to strengthen Hindu participation in areas of influence such as the economy, education, academia, media and politics.
The 2026 edition will feature four special plenary sessions:
- Dharma: Spiritual leaders representing traditions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism and Shinto will discuss religious and philosophical traditions, their contemporary relevance and opportunities for dialogue.
- Samaj: The session will focus on social cohesion, community development, social institutions and challenges facing Hindu society.
- Bhasha: This plenary will examine the role of languages spoken by Hindu communities in preserving civilisational knowledge, literature, traditions and cultural identity.
- Vishwakarma: The session will explore skills, entrepreneurship, innovation and the contribution of artisans, craftspeople and professionals to economic and social development.
World Hindu Expo to Debut
For the first time, the World Hindu Congress will also host the World Hindu Expo, an initiative intended to promote trade, commerce, prosperity and economic development within the Hindu community.
The organisers said the expo would create opportunities for businesses and institutions to connect, exchange ideas and explore potential partnerships.
The congress is held once every four years. Previous editions took place in New Delhi in 2014, Chicago in 2018 and Bangkok in 2023. According to the organisers, Hindus form a global community of more than 1.2 billion people living in around 180 countries.
