Digvijai Nath P.G. College to Host International Seminar on Global Supply Chains

Two-day event in Gorakhpur will examine energy security, geopolitical tensions, trade routes and India’s foreign policy.

Gorakhpur, 11th Oct: Digvijai Nath P.G. College, Gorakhpur, will organise a two-day international seminar on “Global Supply Chains and India’s Foreign Policy” on November 3 and 4, 2026, in collaboration with the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi.

Organised by the college’s Department of Political Science, the seminar will examine how geopolitical tensions, regional conflicts, energy crises and disruptions in maritime routes are reshaping global supply chains and influencing India’s foreign policy priorities.

The programme aims to provide an academic platform for discussions on India’s energy security, trade interests, manufacturing capabilities, economic diplomacy and strategic autonomy amid a changing global economic landscape.

Focus on Geopolitics, Energy and Trade
The seminar’s 20 sub-themes address key developments affecting global trade and India’s strategic interests. These include the West Asia crisis, Iran–Israel tensions, the Strait of Hormuz, the Russia–Ukraine conflict, sanctions and disruptions in Red Sea trade routes.

Other areas of discussion include the ‘China Plus One’ strategy, diversification of supply chains, the International North–South Transport Corridor, Chabahar and alternative trade routes. The programme will also examine semiconductor and advanced technology supply chains, digital trade, agricultural supply chains, green manufacturing and defence self-reliance.

The themes reflect the growing importance of reliable supply networks for India’s economic security and international engagement.

Research Papers Invited
The organisers have invited original and unpublished research papers from academicians, researchers, scholars and students. Papers should be between 2,500 and 3,000 words, accompanied by an abstract of no more than 250 words. The guidelines specify APA-style referencing and separate formatting requirements for Hindi and English submissions.

Academic Leadership
The seminar lists Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as chief patron. Prof. K.P. Singh, Vice-Chancellor of D.D.U. Gorakhpur University, and Prof. Rajni Kant Pandey, Head of its Department of Political Science, are among the patrons. Prof. Om Prakash Singh, Principal of Digvijai Nath P.G. College, is the president, while Dr. Indresh Kumar Pandey, Head of the Department of Political Science, is the convener.

The college, affiliated with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University and accredited with a B++ grade by NAAC, says the seminar will contribute to academic discussion on India’s evolving role in the global economy.
