Bengaluru, 16th Oct: Senior BJP leader and Karnataka Assembly Leader of Opposition R Ashoka on Friday accused the state’s Congress government of corruption over an alleged ₹14.95 crore fraud involving the Dr B R Ambedkar Development Corporation (ADCL).
In a post on X, Ashoka cited an Enforcement Directorate (ED) press release dated October 14, alleging that funds meant for the corporation were diverted through fake current accounts, forged documents and the premature closure of fixed deposits. He also referred to the earlier alleged ₹187 crore irregularity involving the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
Ashoka targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning the party’s commitment to social justice and alleging that funds intended for the welfare of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities had been misappropriated. He demanded accountability from the state government and called for transparency in the handling of public funds.
According to the ED statement cited by Ashoka, the agency filed a supplementary prosecution complaint on October 5 before the Special Court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Bengaluru against five accused in connection with the alleged fraud.
The ED’s investigation began following an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation’s Anti-Corruption Branch in Bengaluru under provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act. These offences are scheduled offences under the PMLA, which allows the agency to investigate suspected proceeds of crime.
Ashoka said the BJP would continue to demand action against those found responsible and called for a thorough examination of the alleged financial irregularities. The allegations against the state government and the accused remain subject to the ongoing legal process.
