Mumbai, 24th Oct: The Mumbai Crime Branch has detained a man in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, in connection with the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area, taking the total number of people arrested or detained in the case to 11, officials said.
Investigators are examining the suspect’s alleged role in the incident, while further legal proceedings are underway.
The detention comes days after police said the 10 people arrested at that stage would face charges under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Investigators are reportedly gathering evidence and completing the documentation required to invoke the law.
Firing Outside Juhu Residence
The incident took place on the evening of October 18, when at least two men allegedly fired at the 36-year-old actor’s car in Juhu before fleeing on a motorcycle.
According to Mumbai Police, five to six rounds were fired. The motorcycle allegedly used by the shooters was later found abandoned in Andheri.
Shroff escaped unhurt, while his driver and a bystander were injured.
The case was initially handled by Juhu Police before being transferred to the Mumbai Crime Branch. Its Anti-Extortion Cell is now leading the investigation.
Alleged Gang Links Under Investigation
Anil Pandit, identified as a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the attack.
The three alleged shooters were arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota while reportedly attempting to escape to Nepal via Delhi. Two women were also among those arrested earlier over allegations that they supplied weapons to the shooters.
Police sources said the gang had initially considered targeting another high-profile personality but allegedly changed plans because of heavy security.
According to a source cited in the report, the shooters assessed areas frequented by the intended target and concluded they would not be able to reach the person. They allegedly shifted their focus to Shroff after learning through fan-posted social media reels that the actor did not have police protection.
The alleged motive and sequence of events remain part of the ongoing investigation.
Actor’s Team Warns Against Fake Content
On Tuesday, Shroff’s team cautioned against the circulation of fabricated stories, unauthorised statements and AI-generated videos falsely attributed to the actor.
The team urged media organisations and social media platforms to verify information before publishing or sharing it.
The Crime Branch investigation continues as officials examine the role of the newly detained suspect and pursue evidence in the case.
