Katihar, 5th Oct: An advocate was allegedly shot dead in broad daylight in Bihar’s Katihar district on Monday, police said. The incident took place near Kumhar Toli, close to Patel Chowk, at around 10.15 am when Azimuddin Ansari, alias Guddu Ansari, was reportedly on his way to the Katihar Civil Court.

According to Superintendent of Police Parichay Kumar, the attackers, whose identities are yet to be established, allegedly stabbed Ansari when he resisted them before shooting him in the temple.

Local residents rushed Ansari to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the SP said. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team examined the crime scene as part of the investigation.

Police said they are examining the case from all possible angles and are aiming to solve the murder within 24 hours.

“We are investigating all angles and look forward to solving the case within 24 hours,” SP Parichay Kumar said.

A video purportedly showing the shooting has also surfaced on social media. However, the authenticity of the video could not be independently verified.

Family members have alleged that the killing was connected to an old dispute. Police, however, have not confirmed any motive and said the circumstances leading to the murder would be established through the ongoing investigation.
