‘Assi Ke Rai Sahab’ Book Launch on Veteran Journalist Ram Bahadur Rai’s 80th Birthday
Rajnath Singh to Attend Event as Chief Guest; Bhupender Yadav to Be Guest of Honour

New Delhi, 16th Sept: A book titled ‘Assi Ke Rai Sahab’, marking the 80th birth anniversary of veteran journalist and Padma Bhushan awardee Ram Bahadur Rai, will be released at a समारोह in New Delhi on September 25.
According to an invitation issued by Pragya Sansthan, Rai, who is the founding trustee of the organisation and President of the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) Trust, will be honoured on the occasion.
The event is scheduled to be held at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi, at 4 pm on Friday, September 25, 2026.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to attend the programme as the chief guest, while Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav will be the guest of honour. Senior journalist Banwari is scheduled to preside over the ceremony.
Rai, born on July 1, 1946, in Sonadi village of Ghazipur district, Uttar Pradesh, has had a career spanning several decades in journalism and public life. The Government of India conferred the Padma Bhushan on him in 2025 for his contributions to journalism and public discourse.
He currently serves as President of the IGNCA Trust and has been associated with the institution since 2016.
The upcoming book is expected to document aspects of Rai’s life and work and his contribution to journalism, public discourse and social initiatives. The event is being organised by Pragya Sansthan, where Rai serves as a trustee.
The programme will bring together journalists, writers, public figures and other guests to mark Rai’s 80th birthday and the publication of the book.
