Kolkata, 5th May: A BJP worker, identified as Madhu Mondal, was allegedly beaten to death in Kolkata’s Newtown area, triggering a fresh political confrontation between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Trinamool Congress.

According to reports, the incident occurred during celebrations by TMC supporters following recent election results, when tensions reportedly escalated and led to a violent assault.

Police officials confirmed that Mondal sustained critical injuries and was declared dead after being taken to a nearby hospital. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

The BJP has strongly condemned the incident, alleging that the attack was carried out by TMC workers and demanding immediate action against those responsible. Party leaders have also raised concerns over the safety of their workers in areas dominated by the ruling party.

In response, TMC leaders have rejected the allegations, calling them politically motivated and accusing the BJP of attempting to exploit the incident.

Authorities have stepped up security in the Newtown area to prevent further escalation, while police teams have launched a search operation to identify and apprehend those involved.

Community leaders have appealed for calm, urging both sides to avoid confrontation and maintain peace.
