New Delhi, 17th May: The Central Bureau of Investigation probing the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has indicated in court submissions that investigators suspect the existence of a multi-layered network involving exam insiders, intermediaries and candidate circulation channels across several states.
According to the agency, the alleged leak may have unfolded in phases beginning from within the examination ecosystem before spreading through aspirant networks.
The investigation is currently focused on individuals allegedly linked to the paper-setting and moderation process of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test.
The CBI told the court that Pune-based botany professor Manisha Mandhare was associated with the examination process as a subject expert and allegedly had access to confidential botany and zoology question pools.
Investigators are examining whether the confidential material was accessed or circulated in violation of examination protocols.
The probe has also uncovered links involving P. V. Kulkarni, a retired chemistry professor allegedly connected to the chemistry paper-setting process.
Officials suspect that confidential examination content may have been passed through multiple intermediaries before reaching candidates in different states.
The agency is reportedly analysing digital communication records, financial transactions and movement patterns of individuals linked to the case.
The alleged NEET-UG leak has triggered concern over the integrity of competitive examinations and renewed calls for stricter safeguards in national entrance tests.
The CBI has not yet disclosed the full extent of the network or the number of candidates who may have benefited from the alleged leak.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
